PFAS Free Swimwear - Why it Matters

Why Being PFAS-Free Matters in Your Swimwear and Towels
When it comes to choosing swimwear and towels for your family, safety should go beyond just sun protection and visibility in water. One of the lesser-known but incredibly important factors to consider is whether your products are free from harmful chemicals - particularly PFAS.
What Are PFAS?
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), often called “forever chemicals,” are a group of synthetic compounds commonly used in textiles for water and stain resistance. They don’t easily break down in the environment or the human body, which means they can accumulate over time and pose serious health risks, especially to children. Some studies have linked PFAS exposure to hormone disruption, immune system effects, and even certain cancers.
Why It Matters in Swimwear and Towels
Swimwear and towels are worn close to the skin - often wet and warm, making it even easier for chemicals to transfer and absorb. Babies and kids are especially vulnerable. Choosing PFAS-free fabrics helps reduce their exposure to these harmful substances, while still giving them the performance they need at the beach or pool.
